I am slowly translating from Japanese to English the autobiographical novel “Kiri no Naka” (In the Fog) by self-confessed murderer and cannibal Sagawa Issei. The purpose of this exercise is purely for my personal practice/study.

aaahh, clive, twas this new fangled interweb thing, all privacy is dead and the past has nowhere to hide. There was I persuing my innocent, purely technical, interest in japanese women, which as you know can lead a man down some strange paths…. Hold on a minute, says I, cannabalism? horror manga? mannequin fetishism? it can only be one man.

Hi, I was happy to stumble over your blog here and I wondered if you’d have any interest in helping with something a little similar. I’ve set up a blog based on a short story I wrote a few years ago in the hope of getting it translated into as many languages as possible. I started out using Google Translate just so the thing wouldn’t be totally empty, but I’ve just had my first human bite so now there are proper versions in English and Spanish.
I don’t know if you are a professional translator, I was thinking more of the enthusiastic amateur with my project, but if you were interested in having a go I’d welcome a proper version in Japanese. Andrew, apologies for the late reply. Translations are always best done into one’s own language. I am a native English speaker. Therefore I suggest you ask a Japanese. Look on some of the translator sites. Good luck.
HOW DO I GET THE FULL TEXT IN ENGLISH! My Japanese is still at such a beginner level that it will take years to conquer the original text. Do I have any options seeing as how your translation is still incomplete?
If your first sentence is a question, then you’re asking the wrong person. If I knew, I wouldn’t be doing this.

To my knowledge this book has only been published in Japanese. I intend to continue this until finished. However, it’s very much a pastime, so it’s going to take some time. Many thanks for the words of support.
